A Website Reborn
Proudly announcing our fully redesigned website
A few years ago, we launched our first ever website, smaksentry.gg. We had many ambitious ideas for our website, including featured articles and easy access to the latest tournaments. We wanted to create unique esports and gaming content, while also offering resources for our community. And while we felt that we exceeded our goals, we wanted to take things a step further with the features of the website. We also felt it was time for some fresh new designs!
Vicious, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Team SMAK, led the project with the help of his team. He worked one-on-one with PusheenQueen, a talented graphic designer who specializes in web design. His work has been incredible, as he was able to perfectly capture our vision for the website revisions and new pages, while maintaining fluidity in the functionality and consistency in the Sentry Esports branding.
We started out with a brand new domain name to align with our other social media sites, so we went with pghsentry.gg for consistency. Arriving on the website, you’ll be greeted with the new home page. The carousel at the top will showcase 5 of the newest pieces of information from across the entire website. Right now, that will mean the latest article or team update. But down the road, we have much more to add to the website. This is the best place to quickly check in and see what’s new! The home page also gives a quick overview of who we are, and what games we currently support.
On the about page, you can learn more about our team’s three focus areas in esports – competition, entertainment, and community. This was the result of our team’s efforts to zero in on the areas that we feel we can make a difference, and where our strengths and interests lie heading into the end of this year and beyond. Competition comes in the form of tournaments as we continue hosting for Super Smash Bros., but also look ahead to supporting other game tournaments and surrounding tournaments. Entertainment is an area of expansion for us, as we have recently invested further into improving our stream equipment and protecting it so that we can continue delivering enjoyable, professional streams for all our events. We’re also looking to continue our new Sentry Versus series soon, and growing our YouTube channel and Twitch! The about page will certainly continue to grow as our team grows.
Recently, we brought StarWind aboard officially as our team’s photographer! He does an incredible job capturing the best moments from all of our tournaments. This was something we felt we needed critically, as it was the one missing component we still had with our tournaments – brackets capture the data, streams catch the matches, but photos capture the memories. We will continue adding photos from the past, and in the future, for all our tournaments to the brand new gallery page so you can relive those memories!
Our articles page has been fully redesigned! We plan to write unique, entertaining, and insightful blogs throughout each month. This will feature everything from theory crafting in Smash, to sharing team news updates, to spotlighting our fellow gaming communities, leagues, and players. We’re also looking for aspiring writers to join in writing for our website! If you’re interested in writing esports or game related articles, reach out to us and let us know.
Last but not least, our redesigned esports page is the perfect place to find tournaments hosted by us, and by our community. We hope that you’ll check in to pghsentry.gg often to enjoy the latest articles, relive memories through the photo gallery, and find the latest esports events.
